Creating Positive Personal Change in Times of Uncertainty – de-stress Meditation – Part of our Healthy Headspace Series
With Irene Nash
by Kerry Businesswomen’s Network
For the second in our Healthy Headspace Series, we were thrilled to bring the expertise of Irene Nash to our members. Here we share Irene’s 15 minute de-stress meditation technique.
Irene is a Wellness Practitioner. Qualified Nurse, QTT/NLP & IET practitioner, and founder of the Willow Circle. Based in Kerry, The Willow Circle was created to promote wellness in the 3 fundamental areas of wellness – Mind, Body, and Soul.
Irene’s Story
“I found working long hours and being a mom to 3 children left me feeling overwhelmed, overstretched, anxious, and worried. Saying ‘no’ was probably one of the hardest words for me to say and putting myself behind everyone else was how I did things.
This left me exhausted, unhappy, and frightened of how much longer could I do this? Thankfully there was a light at the end of the tunnel and that was seeking support and guidance through the therapies I am now qualified in and use in my wellness practice.
My journey in the healthcare profession started over 20 years ago when I trained as a nurse. I just love working with people and feel very lucky to be in a space to witness a person’s journey to wellness.
Over the past number of years, I have branched out and trained in personal development and complementary therapies. I am passionate that wellness is key to living a happy and harmonious life. The Willow Circle was created to be a space to promote wellness in the 3 fundamental areas of wellness – mind, body, and soul. It is key to have all these areas work well together and are in balance and in harmony.
I created The Willow Circle as a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space where you can truly let go of “excess baggage“ to feel free to live your life in more balance and flow”
Creating Positive Personal Change in Times of Uncertainty – 15 minute de-stress meditation
In this session Irene focused on the body-mind connection, to support you as we transition out of the current crisis of #covid19 emerging into a different world. To support you in making self-care a priority and a habit moving forward as we emerge from these difficult times, into a still uncertain future, we’re sharing a 15-minute excerpt from the full hour and a half Workshop, where Irene guided viewers through two short heart based meditations.
De-stress Meditation – Invest 15 minutes in yourself. Find a quiet and calm space to relax, sit back and listen to this short meditation, where Irene will guide you through simple steps, showing how you can change your state of mind, taking back control, enabling you to self-regulate, feel calm, focused, and reduce stress.
Reconnect to your heartspace – short meditation
Do not underestimate the power of your heart, how many times have you said to yourself, I should have listened to or followed my heart? This exercise will help you to tune into your heart space.
SSSSSH TECHNIQUE – Meditation
This exercise facilitates cognitive function and reinforces positive feelings and emotional stability. This means that learning to generate increased heart rhythm coherence, by sustaining positive emotions, not only benefits the entire body, but also profoundly affects how we perceive, think, feel, and perform.
- STOP: Stop.
- STILL: Become still.
- SLOW BREATHING – Take deep breaths to relax your body and mind. Sit with you back straight and shoulders pulled down and back, this increases your lung capacity and improves the quality of your breathing.
- SMILE: This changes the physiology of your body and calms your mind, so you begin to feel lighter and more joyful.
- SOUL: set the intention to connect with the pure love of your inner light.
- HEART: Gently place the tips of your fingers on your heart.
Irene runs a private practice seeing clients one to one, online and also run workshops and wellness talks.
